Now that our October 2017 York train meet is behind us I am pleased to report that this show was very well attended. We sold out all of our member and dealer tables as well as all the dealer booths. This was the second time that the show was open to the public in our two dealer halls and the Black hall for the train club display layouts. Judging from the public attendance our hobby is alive and well with many first time attendees expressing great enjoyment seeing all the train merchandise for sale. It was nice to see the young children get excited viewing the elaborate table displays of trains and operating layouts. So keep spreading the good word about our great hobby to friends and family and the benefits of belonging to the Train Collectors Association. Our National office is always glad to sign up new folks to the TCA at the York show. This show is the number one recruiting tool for TCA.
The Eastern Division volunteers are to be commended for their hard work in putting on the York meet twice a year for the enjoyment of all. Some of our staff work ten months per year administering to the meet so our members can experience the camaraderie of coming together to share knowledge and friendships that this hobby promotes.
Also when in York for the meet try to make time to visit our Toy Train Museum and Library at TCA headquarters in Strasburg. The folks at the National office work very hard to present activities during York week that are enjoyable and informative for everyone. I am looking forward to seeing you all back in York in April 2018 and I hope the weather will be as nice as we experienced in October.
John Zobel, Eastern Division President
